The Ernie Silva Cup Kicks Off Saturday, August 29 in Augusta

Augusta has a new rugby trophy this fall. The inaugural Ernie Silva Cup brings three clubs to Larry Bray Field in Augusta on Saturday, August 29: hosts Augusta Maddogs, Greenville, and Exiles RFC, playing a three-club round robin with first whistle framed for 1 PM.

The clubs announced it together, and the tone is entirely theirs: "Three clubs. One pitch. One very hairy trophy." Whoever comes out on top, the clubs say, "takes home the shortest, hairiest cup known to rugby."

The tournament graphic carries its own wink: "Despite his best efforts - not Memorial." Ernie Silva is very much in on the joke.

For the Maddogs, the Ernie Silva Cup doubles as their fall opener. The rest of Augusta's fall is further down this section.
