Kennesaw State's Women Play Appalachian State for a Conference Title Saturday in Conway

Kennesaw State's women are "CONFERENCE BOUND" and meet Appalachian State for the conference championship at 3:30 PM on Saturday, October 31, at 301 Allied Drive in Conway, South Carolina, with a Menchie's fundraiser in Acworth on Thursday; North Georgia's women followed their 83-5 with a Sunday match at Tennessee; Georgia Tech's women hosted Georgia; and the Atlanta Harlequins are at New York Rugby Club on November 7

"KSU takes on Appalachian State university this Saturday!" The Owls' game day graphic reads CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, GAME DAY, OCTOBER 31 @ 3:30, the KSU crest against the Mountaineers' gold A, and the address, 301 Allied Drive, Conway, South Carolina. Monday's first post was two words, "CONFERENCE BOUND." Thursday comes first: a Menchie's social at the Acworth store only, 3348 Cobb Parkway Suite 100, from 11:30 AM to 10 PM on October 29, with 10 percent of proceeds to the club. After the championship, Kennesaw State host Tennessee at The Perch on Saturday, November 14 at 3 PM.

North Georgia's women, 83-5 winners over Western Carolina at Saturday's Pink Out in Dahlonega, were "off to Knoxville" on Sunday morning for Tennessee's last home match of the season at the RecSports Field Complex, a 1 PM kickoff; Tennessee's thanks came on Tuesday, "an amazing match." Georgia Tech's women hosted Georgia at 10 AM on Saturday on the Roe Stamps fields, "Great game against UGA today!!", then had the alumni in on Sunday; Tech's October 17 trip to Alabama finished 76-12 to Alabama, per Alabama's post. Georgia College's women hosted The Citadel at noon on Sunday, October 25, and visit Georgia in Athens on Saturday, November 7. Life University's women's Recruit Visit Week runs October 26 to November 1 with a home matchday on Saturday, October 31 at 11 AM, opponent to be named. UGA's women's Hunger Bowl for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia runs through October 31.

The Atlanta Harlequins, 11 AM at Northern Virginia on October 17 for NoVA's Friends and Family Day, are next at New York Rugby Club on Randall's Island on Saturday, November 7 at 2 PM, and the club's site lists Women of Old White at the Harlequins on February 20. Women of Old White's own schedule has October 31 away, opponent to be named, and November 7 away at the Hellhounds; Augusta's round robin the same day lists them too. High Country's women lost 41-29 at Memphis on October 17, by the club's account. Every kickoff the clubs have posted is on the calendar.

2.0 Selects 44-0 at the Tackle-A-Thon, by Birmingham's Account

Birmingham Steel put the score on the record themselves, in a comment on Monday: "it was a good learning experience, 0-44." That is Atlanta 2.0 Selects 44, Birmingham Steel 0 at 1 PM on Saturday, October 17, women's rugby on the Old White pitch in Atlanta, Georgia, the Tackle-A-Thon and alumni day. The Atlanta Harlequins were due at Northern Virginia at 11 AM and High Country Women at the Memphis Flamingos at noon. Next: 2.0 Selects host a watch party for USA against Italy at Jolene Jolene on Saturday, October 24, 4:15 PM, with a $10 50/50 raffle, and the Augusta Furies collect professional attire at Savannah River Brewing on Monday, October 26 from 6 to 9 PM.

A Tackle-A-Thon at the Old White Pitch Saturday

Atlanta 2.0 Selects host Birmingham Steel at 1 PM on Saturday, October 17 at the Old White Rugby Pitch on Fairburn Road, a matrix match the club has turned into a Tackle-A-Thon and alumni homecoming, with Atlanta Old White's men to follow on the same field. The Atlanta Harlequins, who confirmed their win over Boston this week, play at Northern Virginia at 11 AM. The Augusta Furies' combined side with Southern Pines won at the Magnolia Drifters' round robin in Cayce on Saturday, October 10, score to be confirmed by the club, and the Savannah Shamrocks' women's match at the Carolina Villains was postponed for the storm.

The Atlanta Harlequins won their Alumni Day match 12-5 over Boston Women's+ Rugby at Mozley Park on October 3, per the referee society's record, and High Country's women opened their season with a win over the Women of Old White at Grant Park (final score to come from the club). Next: Savannah's women at the Carolina Villains and Augusta's 7s round robin on Saturday, October 10, and Atlanta 2.0 Selects' Tackle-A-Thon x Alumni Day against Birmingham on October 17, 1 PM at the Old White pitch.

The Furies Win Their Opener at Savannah, the Harlequins Bring Matrix Rugby to Browns Mill Park, and Women of Old White Post Their Fall

The Augusta Furies won their fall opener at the Savannah Shamrocks at Daffin Park on Saturday, September 19, a 1 PM friendly in which six Shamrock rookies made their debuts; neither club has posted a score. The Atlanta Harlequins hosted DC Furies at Browns Mill Park in Stonecrest at 2 PM, their first D1 matrix home game of the season, and host Boston on Saturday, October 3 at 4 PM at Mozley Park. The Shamrocks' women open matrix play at home against the Charleston Hurricanes on Saturday, September 26 at 1:30 PM.

2.0 Selects Lose Two by Two Points in Charlotte, Women of Old White Take the Field for the First Time, and the Furies Open at Savannah

Atlanta 2.0 Selects dropped a pair of two-point games in a Charlotte round robin on Saturday, September 12, 21-19 to Charlotte and 24-22 to the Raleigh Venom. Women of Old White held their first training of the season on Wednesday, September 9 and posted a six-date fall. The Augusta Furies, this summer's Shamrock 7s champions, open at the Savannah Shamrocks on Saturday, September 19, 1 PM at Daffin Park.

Wesleyan Is Building a Women's Rugby Program in Macon, and It Can Pay Georgia Players to Stay

Georgia keeps producing rugby players and then watching them leave to keep playing. Wesleyan College in Macon is building a reason to stay. The Wolves launch a women's varsity program in Fall 2027, starting in sevens with a path to fifteens, and because Wesleyan turned NAIA in 2026 it can put athletic scholarships on the table. Stack that on academic aid, HOPE, Zell Miller and the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant, head coach Christopher Parks says, and for students who qualify, the strongest combinations can reduce the remaining cost to zero. The Augusta Furies won the women's bracket at the Shamrock 7s in Savannah on August 15, a sevens title to carry into the fall fifteens season.

Wesleyan College Brings NAIA Women's Rugby to Middle Georgia

Wesleyan College in Macon is adding women's rugby, competing in the NAIA's Southern States Athletic Conference. Christopher Parks, twenty years in the game and most recently head coach at Georgia College, will lead the new side. It puts a college women's program on the map in Middle Georgia, well south of the metro clubs.

Atlanta Harlequins hold their first fifteens practice of the season Thursday, August 13, 7:30 to 9:30 PM, at English Park, 1391 Fulton Industrial Blvd NW in Atlanta. August sessions run 7:30 to 9:30 PM, moving to 8 to 10 PM September through November, and in the club's own words, "new and used ruggers" are welcome at every practice.

Fifteens Season Stirs

The fifteens revival is under way. Atlanta 2.0 Selects hold a kickoff meeting Sunday, August 2 at Schoolhouse Brewing, with practices starting Monday, August 3 and all skill levels welcome. The Gwinnett Lady Lions are training Thursdays at 7:00 PM at Tribble Mills Park in Lawrenceville with a first match coming in September, and High Country's women return from summer break on Tuesday, August 18.

Phoenix Sweeps the Hotlanta 7s, Atlanta 2.0 Works Overtime

Phoenix Rugby 7s swept the women's competitive bracket at the Hotlanta 7s on Saturday, July 25, outscoring the field 145-14 and beating Raleigh Venom 42-7 in the final. The Georgia story was Atlanta 2.0 Selects, who took third in the competitive draw and won the full women's social division in the same afternoon.

Atlanta Harlequins women's side took silver at the Vulcan 7s in Birmingham, a run that, by the club's own June 28 account, leaned on first-time sevens players. Summer 7s practices keep going Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 to 9 PM at Walker Park, and the invitation is verbatim: "All are welcome." The fifteens season is next: the Harlequins hold a preseason meeting on Sunday, August 2, then open at home on Saturday, August 29 against Atlanta 2.0.

The third annual Peach Pitch 7s, the biggest all-women's-plus 7s in the Southeast, packed 15 teams into the Southeast Athletic Complex in Lithonia.
