The Week in Georgia

Preseason Is On Across Georgia, and the First Trophy Arrives Saturday, August 29

Preseason has a particular sound: cleats on turf still summer soft, a whistle finding its rhythm again. Atlanta Harlequins hold their first fifteens practice of the 2026-27 season on Thursday, August 13 at English Park, 1391 Fulton Industrial Blvd NW in Atlanta, and open their season Saturday, August 29 against Atlanta 2.0.

Augusta Maddogs have been back at training since Tuesday, August 4 at the Maddogs Pitch, 2055 Division St in Augusta, and they open Saturday, August 29 with something better than a plain friendly: the inaugural Ernie Silva Cup, a three-club round robin with Greenville and Exiles RFC at Larry Bray Field. The fall has its first trophy date.

The picture is the same in every direction. Athens Eagles, Atlanta Renegades, and Gwinnett Lions all have fall training running, and Gainesville RUFC is back on the pitch after a quiet spring. The men's section has each club's days and fields.

The youth and college game is moving too. Rebels Rugby GA's high schoolers have fall sevens conditioning underway on Tuesdays and Thursdays, North Georgia's men's and women's sides have Tuesday and Thursday practices posted in Dahlonega, and Life University's men are back in camp, with a home opener Saturday, October 3 against Mary Washington at Lupo Family Field.

Whichever club you are watching for, the season is filling in fast. The calendar has every verified date, and Find a Club has the doorway nearest you.
