Harlequins 12-5 on Alumni Day, High Country Open With a Win

The Atlanta Harlequins beat Boston 12-5 on Alumni Day, High Country's women open their season with a win over the Women of Old White, and Atlanta 2.0 Selects turn their Birmingham match into a Tackle-A-Thon

Alumni Day at Mozley Park ended the way the Atlanta Harlequins wanted it: a 12-5 win over Boston Women's+ Rugby on Saturday, October 3, per the referee society's official record. The club ran a Tackle-A-Thon alongside the match, pledges per tackle, and promised supporters a total and a recap once the counting is done. Their next match is at Northern Virginia on October 17.

Across the city, High Country's women started their season with a win over the Women of Old White at Grant Park, the second half of a doubleheader with the men; the club has posted two different finals, and the confirmed score goes up here the moment they settle it. High Country travel to Memphis on October 17; the Women of Old White are at a 7s round robin in Columbia the same day.

Atlanta 2.0 Selects have borrowed the idea. Their home match against Birmingham on Saturday, October 17 at 1 PM at the Old White Rugby Pitch is now a Tackle-A-Thon x Alumni Day: pick a player or the team, pledge per tackle, and the club tallies every one made in the matrix match. The pledge link is in the club's bio.

Saturday, October 10 is a road day. Savannah's women play the Carolina Villains at 1 PM in Piedmont, South Carolina, a matrix match. Augusta's Furies travel to a 7s round robin hosted by the Magnolia Drifters in Cayce, South Carolina, fielding a combined side with Southern Pines for a 1 PM kickoff, and the Furies are also collecting professional attire for a clothing drive on Monday, October 26 at Savannah River Brewing. Kennesaw State's women are at Georgia in Athens at noon, playing 7s. Every date is on the calendar.
