Opening Saturday in Georgia Rugby: Rebels Sweep the Irish Ruggerfest 7-0, a Shutout in Atlanta, Three Wins on the Road, and Three Rainouts

Saturday, September 12 was the first Saturday of the fall with something happening in every division at once, and the scores are in from the clubs that posted them. This is the week in review; every result below is the club's own number.

Youth and high school: four Georgia squads played the Irish Ruggerfest at Father Ryan High School in Nashville. Golden Eagle Rugby's boys beat Spring Hill 43-0 and the Raptors 32-7 before two 15-10 finals against KYR and Rebels Rugby GA, and the club called it second place. Atlanta Old White Youth's boys beat the host Irish 20-10, per Father Ryan's own post. Rebels Rugby GA swept their seven matches as a club, the boys 4-0 and the girls 3-0, per the club. Father Ryan's girls edged the Atlanta Valkyries 20-15.

College: Kennesaw State's women won their first game of the season 22-0 over Georgia Tech at Stamps Field in Atlanta, a 10 AM kickoff. Life University's women went to Hanover, New Hampshire and won 49-22 at Dartmouth. Life's club side won 38-18 at White Plains in Elkridge, Maryland, a slow start and a strong finish by the club's own account. Kennesaw State's alumni match against the Peg Leg old boys was postponed for weather; the social went ahead in Woodstock.

Senior men: the Gainesville Spartans beat the Athens Eagles 70-5 at Walker Park in Athens, in the rain, per Gainesville's post. High Country's home opener against the Augusta Maddogs was called off the night before. The Atlanta Bucks' free Rugby 101 at Grove Park was rained out, so the Bucks took the social to Reds Beer Garden instead.

Senior women: Atlanta 2.0 Selects lost two two-point games in a Charlotte round robin, 21-19 to Charlotte and 24-22 to the Raleigh Venom. High Country's women's home friendly against the Chattanooga Queens was rained out. Women of Old White held their first training of the season on Wednesday, September 9 at Custer Park.

The next Saturday, September 19, is nearly as full: Georgia hosts Tennessee Tech at noon at Lake Herrick for Parents and Family Weekend, North Georgia's men open at home against Western Carolina at noon at Radar Ridge, Life's club side hosts White Plains at 7 PM at Lupo Family Field, the Augusta Furies open at Savannah at 1 PM at Daffin Park, and Macon Love visit High Country at Grant Park. Every date and kickoff the clubs have posted is on the calendar.

Correction, Thursday, September 17, 2026: an earlier version said High Country's women hosted the Chattanooga Queens on Saturday, September 12. The match was rained out.
