The fastest way to grow a sport is not another fixture, it is another qualified coach. On Saturday, August 29, Rebels Rugby GA hosted a USA Rugby Level 1 Coach Course led by USA Rugby educator Kevin O'Brien, and seventeen coaches finished the day certified. Six of them will coach with the Rebels; the rest carry the certification back to programs across the state.

The coursework ran from whiteboard principles to live technique work, with Rebels youth players showing up to serve as practice players, which is its own kind of statement about where the sport's next generation is coming from. The club is already looking at hosting a Level 2 course after the first of the year. When it has a date, it will be on the calendar.
