Savannah's Saturday Washed Out, Augusta's Is Next
The Shamrocks' men's friendly at Columbia and women's match at the Carolina Villains were both called off for Hurricane Isaias, the Augusta Maddogs host Charleston at 1 PM on Saturday, October 17, and the Exiles say their club is growing
The Savannah Shamrocks had a road doubleheader planned for Saturday, October 10, and lost both halves of it to the weather. The club posted on Friday afternoon that the women's match at the Carolina Villains was postponed, then on Friday evening that "the Men's game is Canceled tomorrow," a friendly at the Columbia Rhinos that Columbia had already posted a starting XV for, 3:30 PM at Owens Field Park. The Villains' own post named Hurricane Isaias. On Saturday the Shamrocks posted from a wet training session instead: "we will keep you posted on all make up matches." Their next home dates stand: Gainesville on Saturday, October 17 and South Florida on Saturday, October 24, kickoffs to be posted.
Two senior men's matches went ahead on paper and have no posted score. Macon Love traveled to Montgomery, listed on the club's site as a 1 to 4 PM window, and has posted nothing since the Tuesday practice graphic that sent them there. Atlanta Old White's D1 side was listed at Asheville on the referee society's schedule; the club's channels show nothing from the trip, and the Old White men's last post is still the 64-24 win over High Country from October 3. Both scores go up here when the clubs post them. The postponed Renegades and Gainesville match still has no date from either club.
Saturday, October 17 has a match with a time and a place: the Augusta Maddogs host Charleston at 1 PM at the Augusta Rugby Pitch, 2055 Division Street, per the club's site. The Maddogs are posting weekly practice graphics again, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the same pitch with a Thursday social at Savannah River Brewing Company. In Atlanta, Old White's D3 host Chattanooga at the Atlanta Rugby Grounds after the 2.0 Selects' 1 PM women's match on the same field, kickoff to be posted by the club. Gainesville go to Savannah, and the Deep Roots Tournament in Milledgeville has men's sides from Georgia College, North Georgia and the Exiles listed on their schedules.
The Exiles put a number on their fall: 58 days into the club year, "social membership has reached an all-time high, while player membership is at its highest level since 2022," per the club's post on Monday, October 12. The car show the club ran with Fuel Coffee Roasters in Alpharetta on Sunday, October 11 went ahead through "a rather misty start," raffle winners were drawn, and the club says it will do it again in the spring. The Exiles host the Montgomery Yellowhammers on Saturday, October 24, kickoff to be posted. The Atlanta Renegades, who have not had a match since September, posted their training reel on Monday: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 to 9 PM, at Peachtree Middle School in Dunwoody, and they are at Gwinnett on Saturday, October 24.
Further out: Atlanta High Country are at Nashville on Saturday, October 31, the Bucks are at Athens on October 24 at 1 PM, and the Furies host a women's round robin on Division Street on Saturday, November 7, the same day the Maddogs close their fall at home against Columbus. Every date the clubs have posted is on the calendar.
