Wesleyan College announced women's rugby as a new varsity program on August 21, adding the sport as the Macon institution builds out its athletics under a move to the NAIA. Wesleyan will compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference, putting a college women's side on the map in Middle Georgia, well south of the metro-Atlanta programs that have carried the women's college game in this state.

The program will be led by Christopher Parks, who brings more than twenty years in the game. He began playing in 2002 and moved into coaching in 2019 with Macon Love Rugby, then took the head coaching role at Georgia College & State University in 2025. "Rugby is a sport that demands resilience and absolute teamwork," Parks said, "qualities that perfectly align with the spirit of this institution." It is a fitting note at one of the country's oldest women's colleges.

"Coach Parks' experience and passion for the sport make him an excellent leader for this new program," said Seth Berkebile, Wesleyan's Director of Athletics. The side is listed as coming soon while the roster is built. We'll post Wesleyan's first fixtures here the moment they're set.
